Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive approach to health care that combines conventional medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural and non-invasive therapies.  Naturopathic doctors are trained in therapeutic nutrition, nutrient supplementation, herbal medicine, homeopathy, lifestyle counseling, and pharmacology. They address the mental, emotional and physical components of health, and focus on the underlying causes of illness, as well as the symptoms.

ND’s are trained as primary care doctors at accredited four-year naturopathic medical schools.  The training includes conventional medical sciences and diagnostics, pharmacology, minor surgery, nutrition, natural therapies and clinical experience. Naturopathic care requires longer visits, and often includes standard and/or more comprehensive diagnostic testing than primary care visits. Naturopathic medicine is effective for a wide variety of health conditions but exceptionally well suited to treat the following:

- Digestive problems (IBS/IBD, GERD)
- Hormone imbalances
- Mental health (depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD)
- Insomnia
- Skin issues (eczema, psoriasis, acne)
- Stress management and adrenal fatigue
- Detoxification
- Weight-loss
